Sensitivity to metal?

mottledfae:

I’m wondering if any of the other Faekin on tumblr are sensitive to metal?

I can only wear surgical steal, but silver, gold, iron, pewter, any kind of metal other than surgical give me the worst reaction ever, rashing, burning, itching,

anyone on this boat?

I’m not a Fae, but I have this same problem (allergic skin reaction to metals). It’s a fairly uncommon allergy, but I don’t believe it has anything to do with one’s kin identity.

THIS is what I’ve been to trying to get across to someone lately. Unfortunately, this says it far more eloquently than I did. I don’t feel I made them understand my point, but now hopefully I can.

hmm…

So, I’ve been doing some more research into the tumblr Otherkin community (as a newly involved kin myself), and I’ve been wondering…

Does anyone else think Transcats and Melted-Snowflake are the same person? Their writing style is strangely similar, and Melted-Snowflake’s tendency to abuse punctuation by adding exclamation points after every sentence comes across more to me like an attempt to disguise her writing style than legitimate speech mannerisms.

“Have you ever come across a homeless individual and felt totally uncomfortable?

You see them and you know they are in need, but you are not sure what to do. You know that handing them money is not the best thing. But, you also see that they clearly have some needs. Their lips are chapped. They are hungry. They are thirsty. They are asking for help.

How can you help?

Here is a simple idea - blessing bags.
This was such an easy project. We are now going to keep a few “Blessing Bags” in our car so that when we do happen to see someone on the streets who is homeless, we can hand them a Blessing Bag. I first learned of these bags from my friend, Julie. I am using the picture of her bags (see above) because the ones we took were taken in horrible lighting and turned out really grainy and hard to see what is inside of them.

If you’d like to make your own Blessing Bags, this is what you would need:

Gallon size Ziplock bags
items to go in the bags, such as:
chap stick
packages of tissues
toothbrush and toothpaste
comb
soap
trail mix
granola bars
crackers
pack of gum
band aids
mouthwash
coins (could be used to make a phone call, or purchase a food item)
hand wipes
you could also put in a warm pair of socks, and maybe a gift card

Assemble all the items in the bags, and maybe throw in a note of encouragement. Seal the bags and stow in your car for a moment of providence.

This would be a great activity to do with some other families. Each family could bring one of the items going into the bags (ex: toothbrushes). Set up all the items around a table and walk around it with the ziplocks and fill the bags.”

“Note of encouragement”
“Blessing Bag”
You have got to be kidding.
I mean, it’s a nice idea and all, but could you be any more condescending in your execution of it? Sheesh.

Imagine if the Westboro Church wasn’t affiliated with Christianity… there is NO way they’d be able to constantly say “God hates America” and not be deported/ killed by the FBI/ shipped away to be tortured in Guantanamo Bay if they weren’t white Christians.

As far as I’m concerned, they’re a government/ country risk but people mess around and let them have their “free speech” because they’re white and Christian.

Definitely. Imagine if the WBC were Muslim, or some other heavily targeted religion? Every last one of them would have been thrown in jail years ago, if not worse. Fuck White Christianity.

Funny how people (usually White people) on tumblr and on facebook will tell me how my “angry” posts on politics, race, etc are doing nothing to help people or change people’s minds but at the same time these people will do everything in their power to silence me and harass me. Why don’t you just ignore me if my posts are so useless?

Angry is the only thing that works on these people. I can’t count the number of times I’ve tried being nice to some bigot, giving them the benefit of the doubt, trying to help them change their mind “nicely”, only to have them casually ignore my efforts and use it as a cue to keep gleefully trampling all over everyone in their path. It was only when I got hostile did they bother to listen and become concerned about what they were doing — because now they have emotional consequences to be afraid of. Of course, even that doesn’t always work. But more often than not, these people will force your hand. They say you’re too angry, but they made you get angry in order to make them listen…because being nice doesn’t work and will never work.

What do we think, atheists?http://proud-atheist.tumblr.com

Some of these things are not like the others…some of these things just  don’t belong~
Being an asshole about someone’s religious beliefs isn’t cool, but it’s hardly comparable to homophobia, racism, misogyny or other forms of bigotry. For one thing, If I don’t like a Christian’s beliefs, he/she can still take consolation in the fact that Christianity and other religions practically run the entire fucking planet to the detriment of everyone else. If a Christian doesn’t like my beliefs or some other aspect of my existence (sexuality, gender, etc)., I’ll be lucky if I’m only shunned for it.
